It might sounds silly, but my old school Garmin GPS has been one of my favorite mods! There have been many times that it alone can provide directions without cell service.

This is a great app for planning and navigating if you download and save maps for your area.

Most people use this for hiking, but you can also use it to discover off road trails.

This is a great app or discovering trails and checking recent status reports.

This is another great app, especially for recording your track.

This app is cool becuase you can download maps, and it will display your current location as a blue dot on the map. It is great for Forest Service maps and off road park maps.
