Rock Sliders

Cons

I went without rock sliders for a long time because I knew that they would reduce my ground clearance because they hang down a bit. The inch welds can certainly take a hit, but they are not designed for this. Additionally, the plastic trim on the lower part of the doors can be ripped off. This happened a few times and I was able to reattach them with the plastic clips, but eventually enough clips broke that I could not reattach them. At this point, I installed rivet nuts in the many holes. Then I installed bolts to completely close the holes. Finally, I applied black paint where the trim used to be.

DIY Rock Sliders on the first SK Forester

I after staring at the pinch weld and rock for a while, I decided that I could reinforce that area while building my own rock sliders. Add more info here....

New Rock Sliders for the 2024

Getting a clean, new start is a luxury. It's actually what motivated me to document round two so I can help out the community and maybe prevent people from making the same mistakes. There are quite a few options for rock sliders for the SK Forester. That's pretty amazing if you ask me! I decided to go with the Body Armor 4x4 Rock Sliders after viewing the installation manual for each choice.

Installation video coming soon

I'll make a video about how to install them.

Rock Slider Mods for Improved Strength

I might find a way to improve the strength of the rock slider mounts.
